The reason for making this statement is that the front sight is on backwards. Everyone knows that the front sight goes in the reverse fashion with the high point in the direction of the breech portion of the firearm. Griswold & Gunnison 1860 Revolver (Pietta) .44 caliber. The eight inch length of the round dragoon barrel, and flat forward receiver closely resemble the original cap-n-ball revolver manufactured during the early part of the Civil War in Griswoldville, Ga. Like the town of Griswoldville, Georgia few remnants of the firearms produced there current remain. Navy Arms Company did a good job in recreating the rare original firearm, with one exception; the original was chambered in thirty six caliber, this brass frame replica is chambered in forty-four caliber. The receiver is snug against the barrel. The bore is bright with sharp rifling; even the grips are scratch free.

Presentation model Colt 1860 Army Revolver (Pietta). This forty-four caliber cap-n-ball revolver is similar to the enhanced models that Col. Colt offered as an enticement to United States Procurement officers during the time of its manufacture in the mid-Nineteenth Century. Others who were financially well off could purchase similar offerings of presentation grade Colt revolvers. This Pietta recreation is finished in bright nickel, with the rebated forty-four caliber cylinder and hammer finished in gold. The synthetic grips demonstrate the appearance of the Ivory grips common to the original which it duplicates.
