Hawken, full-stock (custom made) .58 caliber Rifle. The thirty-five inch octagon barrel is held in place by three wedge keys and a hooked breech, a style typical of the original which it duplicates. The makers name "L. Russell" is etched on the top flat of the one and one-eighths inch barrel. The bore and rifling are impressive, and show much care by the previous owner. The rifle is iron mounted with the exception of the eagle and Indian head inlays which are brass.
